We started out in a very small town called Lumbreras headed towards another small town; Villoslada. We didn't make it quite that far though!
The trees were so heavy with snow that they were blocking the path in many areas
Looking back at Lumbreras
Pink blossoms hidng in the snow and taking a break for a snack!
Lots of red berries on the trees right now. We even found some mistletoe! I'm not sure I've ever seen mistletoe in real life so I decided to take some home to add to my Christmas decorations.
This poor tree was so heavily laden with snow it was bent double! H started trying to rescue some of the trees by shaking off the snow.
Occupational hazard of a tree rescuer
This was where we stopped and turned around. There was a whole herd of cattle hanging out in this field.
The whole way we were following an ancient Roman road. Here you can see some of the remaining stones, where the snow has melted. The stones are no longer flat, most have been shoved out of place and it makes for an interesting hiking trail. You have to make sure to watch out where you're stepping, and the rocks are slippery when wet!
Afterwards we went to a little hotel/cafe in the middle of nowhere to have lunch.
This is an HDR photo of my view while eating lunch.
Now I'm off to drink some tea and snuggle up in a blanket on the couch. The perfect ending to a snowy day!
